Jontae Lane- Sound Design Demo Reel
For my cinematic and gameplay reel based on The Blacksmith, I focused on building atmosphere and movement through sound. In the cinematic scene, I designed audio for a man using magic as he rises from a chair and walks out of a worn-down barn. I layered subtle cloth movement, footsteps, wood creaks, and textured ambience to make the space feel old and empty. For the gameplay portion, I created environmental sound around a deserted town with distant crow calls, wind, and light debris movement to enhance the abandoned feel. As the character walks toward the portal and interacts with floating objects, I added custom magic tones, soft energy textures, and spatial effects to give those moments weight and depth. Throughout the project, I focused on clean processing, immersive ambience, and smooth transitions to keep everything cinematic but grounded.
